Comfort Through Scriptures (pt.1)

Tears show we are humans, it tells our emotions.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

John 14:18

We’ve all been through our own share of unfair situations. The world we live in guarantees hurt and pain, it just the way of life.

You may never understand why things happened the way they did. During these situations or uncertainties, it’s only natural to question things that run through our mind; why your loved one died, why a relationship ended sooner than you expected, why you didn’t get picked to play during a game, why you got kicked out of the house, why you didn’t graduate the same time your mates did,  why you didn’t make the cut off mark to gain admission to school, why life seems so unfair to you, why you are treated differently….

Questions play in our minds

The loss of a loved one and the feeling of being treated unfairly and unjust is never an easy thing to brush aside. It takes a strong mind, will power and the determination  to come out whole and strong.

In other to move forward, we have to search deep within ourselves and look beyond our situations and questions by placing out hope in God. I know it’s not easy to surrender your all to something or someone you cant see, but God is not man to lie, what he says I what he will do.

Finding Comfort Through Scriptures

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

In God,you find comfort and the ability to let go through God’s words. Jesus tell us that we will be faced with trials and unforeseen circumstances, but we can take heart and be cheerful, because  He has overcome the world (John 16:33)

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

Live again!!!

Through Scriptures, we are comforted by knowing that God is always looking over us. He cares for us, because He is our protector, shield and comforter in times of need. No matter the situations we are faced with, we can trust in him to take control over every affair of our lives, because we find out rest in him.

Put your trust in God

In times of discouragement and sorrow, look to the bible to be encourage and consoled by God, most times he speak to us through scriptures or through individuals.
He has promised that He is going to turn that situation and feeling of inferiority and disappointment into an advantage for us. Though adversaries may come, but God promises to lead us to our victory.

P.S. my next post will be on scriptural texts from the bible that provide us with words of comfort.

  1. Nice read, but it begs the question, how do we find this comfort with so much disparity in the interpretation of scriptures and it also begs the question which borders on the realm of meta-physics, what’s the coronation between the word of God and physical comfort, which most times do not transcend the sexual gratification.

    1. For the first question, you should search for canonized versions of the bible, i suggest the king james and the amplified versions . And in your second question, I believe u meant “correlation” it’s actually very simple, your mind controls any and all actions your body performs, whatever your mind is set on the rest of your body follows suit. “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be” (Romans 8:5-8). Seek comfort in scriptures first and your body will follow, sexual gratification is not a necessity for comfort.
